American Kestrel
Nov 7th, 2008 | "American Kestrel"
This is a female American Kestral (Falco sparverius). I got this shot at this years Gulf Coast Renaissance Faire. The raptor exhibit is one of my favorite things about the Ren. Faire. I love the grace and beauty of these birds. The American Kestrel is the smallest falcon in North America, and they range pretty much from Alaska down to Mexico. It is one of the most popular raptors used by apprentice falconers.
