Great Blue Heron in Lo-Fi
Nov 15th, 2008 | "Great Blue Heron in Lo-Fi"
Today Jas and I met up at Gulf Islands National Seashore: Naval Live Oaks. We went on a walk along the shore and followed this great blue heron for a while. I only brought along my 28-135mm which is horrible for birding. Jas let me borrow his Phoenix 500mm f8 mirror lens. It is a low quality, slow, hard to focus lens that give you noisy, soft focus, and poor color images with loads of falloff that look so incredibly Lo-Fi that they rock! The bokeh is outrageously horrible with the doughnuts of light floating around. I will say that this lens, even on my 40D would qualify as Lomo. I had to play with this image quite a bit to coax out anything decent, but I think that I succeeded in bringing out a picture that would be fitting for ANY late 70s photography book. This lens is so poor, that I actually love it!
