Dead Pixels
Nov 23rd, 2008 | "Dead Pixels"
A few months ago, one of my friends MacBook had a fairly severe 'accident'. He was left with a still functioning MacBook, but had no way to use it because of the destroyed LCD. Since I am the one who turned him on to Macs and the fact that part of my job is fixing computers I was asked for advice. I gave him a link to the replacement part and offered my computer repair skills (for a nominal fee - I quit doing free tech support years ago!) I spent a couple of hours taking the computer apart and now his MacBook has a shiny new non-cracked screen! I thought that the patterns and the blotches of liquid crystals where the fractures were looked pretty neat. I grabbed my 28-135mm, which has some macro ability, but i wasn't getting the detail I wanted. I flipped the lens around and set it to 28mm and hand held it against the lens mount of my 40D. I was able to get some extreme close ups of the fractures but out of all of them, this is my favorite.
