Rained In
Nov 30th, 2008 | "Rained In"
It has been raining pretty much all day. We were planning to take Aubrey on her first trip to the zoo today, but since the weather was bad, that little excursion will be delayed to another weekend. I have been really bad about not taking pictures lately. I know I need to get out more and shoot, sometimes its just so hard, especially when you live out in the country where there is nothing interesting to shoot that you haven't shot already. Maybe I am wrong about wanting to get a big house with lots of land further out in the country. Maybe I should find a decent place in town where I am walking distance (or at least a short drive) from interesting places.

I decided that I was not going to post an old picture today, my PotD has to be new.

Obstacle #1: My camera bag is out in the car and it is pouring.
Luckily I had grabbed my Rebel earlier to take some pics of our rearranging of junk.

Obstacle #2: What do I take a picture of, there is really nothing interesting in my crappy house.
So I looked around and all I could think of was the rain on the windows. Hey, that can be kinda neat. Though there is only one window in the house that is somewhat decent looking, the one above the kitchen sink.

Obstacle #3: It is way too dark for my to shoot handheld, all of my gear in the in car.
I found a tripod in my room, but it's a crappy $15 one that is missing it's shoe. I found a spare vacuum drive belt in the junk drawer, and used it to hold the camera to the tripod.

I set the exposure for 30sec and here it is. The mixed color temps of the streetlights and the light coming from my room were kind of clashing, so I decided that this image would look better in b&w.
